America wants to weaken India-Russia friendship, is thinking of tricks

 Russia's relations with many major countries deteriorated after the war with Ukraine, but India has stood by its oldest friend.However, India has never even justified Russian aggression on a small country like Ukraine.America has been continuously appealing to India to take steps against Russia, but so far it has not shown any effect on the decisions of the Indian government.

Now Joe Biden's government is once again trying to reduce this friendship between the two countries.According to a report, the US Congress is considering how to weaken the friendship between India and Russia.

According to a report by the independent Congressional Research Service (CRS), members of Congress and US policymakers are trying to encourage India to help isolate Russia diplomatically and economically.For this, plans are being made to reduce India's dependence on Russia.Let us tell you that the CRS is a research wing of the US Congress, which consists of members from both the parties.This wing prepares reports from time to time on important issues for the MPs.

The report said, "Congress wants to consider what bilateral departments such as the US State and Defense can change their strategies to increase the distance between India and Russia."The CRS titled its report 'India-Russia relations and implications for US interests'.

So far, officials in the Joe Biden administration have acknowledged the motive behind India's neutrality on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine.Keeping US interests in mind, there is no option but to adopt India-Russia relations. 

Let us tell you that unlike many other major western powers, India has not criticized Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.Apart from this, he has also refrained from voting against Russia on the UN forum.

In October 2018, India signed a USD 5 billion deal with Russia to buy five units of the S-400 missile system to strengthen its air defence, despite warnings from the then Trump administration.The US has already imposed sanctions on Turkey under CAATSA for the purchase of a batch of S-400 missile defense systems from Russia.However, he has not taken any such step against India till now, only showed tough attitude.

Despite strong objections from the US and threats of sanctions from the Biden administration, India has refused to change its decision and is proceeding with the purchase of the missile defense system.The Ministry of External Affairs in November last year said that India follows an independent foreign policy and its defense acquisitions are in accordance with its national security interests.

The United States has long encouraged India to further reduce its purchases of Russian military equipment and to diversify its sources of defense goods.In the report, India has been described as a major defense partner of America.Along with this, the possibility of several defense agreements between the Biden administration and the Modi government has also been expressed in recent times.

The report said that the US may consider necessary steps to strengthen arms trade and defense ties with India as well as reduce India's ties with Russia.
